An MVR shows a state driving record. CDLIS helps identify commercial-license history. PSP shows federal crash and roadside-inspection history. They answer different questions; one is not a substitute for the others.
Evergreen Comply sells MVR and MVR + CDLIS checks. We do not include PSP in either option.
What’s the difference?
| Record | What it helps you see | Main distinction |
|---|---|---|
| MVR | License status, class, restrictions, and reported driving violations; details vary by state | A state driving record |
| CDLIS search | Commercial-license history that can identify additional licenses | A search that can lead to additional state MVRs |
| PSP | Five years of crash history and three years of roadside-inspection history | Federal motor-carrier data, not a state license record |
FMCSA’s PSP and MVR comparison explains how the two records differ. A crash or inspection entry and a state conviction record are not interchangeable.
AAMVA describes CDLIS as the system states use to exchange commercial-driver licensing information. The search is not itself a complete set of state driving records.
Which Evergreen option should I select?
MVR only: Choose this when you want the selected license state’s commercial MVR without a CDLIS search.
MVR + CDLIS: Choose this when you also want the commercial-license-history search. If CDLIS finds additional licenses, Checkr automatically runs additional MVRs. Checkr explains that behavior here.
Both Evergreen options are for employers checking CDL holders. “MVR only” means no CDLIS search—not a personal or non-CDL report.
What does the bundle leave out?
Neither option includes PSP, Clearinghouse queries, drug testing, criminal searches, or ongoing monitoring. Neither creates a complete driver qualification file or makes a hiring decision for you.
The bundle’s initial price covers CDLIS and the initial MVR. Additional MVR costs are separate; see pricing and state fees.
