Formaldehyde Safety training questions
Who should take this course?
Employees assigned to workplaces with formaldehyde exposure, subject to the standard’s objective-data exception. Employers must complete instruction for actual tasks, exposures and workplace procedures.
When is training required?
Training is required at initial assignment, when a new formaldehyde exposure is introduced and at least annually. An exception applies when the employer establishes with objective data that employees are not exposed at or above 0.1 ppm.
Can an employer be exempt from the training requirement?
Under 29 CFR 1910.1048(n), an employer does not have to provide this training when objective data establish that employees are not exposed to formaldehyde at or above 0.1 ppm. The employer must evaluate the actual exposure; course completion does not establish this exception.
What does online completion replace?

How long does the course take?
Approximately 52 minutes of video across 92 short lessons, with ten module quizzes and a randomized ten-question final. Allow additional time for assessments and workplace instruction. This is not an OSHA-prescribed minimum duration.
What score do I need?
Evergreen Comply requires 80% and allows unlimited retakes. The final draws ten questions from a 24-question bank. These are Evergreen course standards, not OSHA-prescribed scores.
What does the certificate show?
After online completion and passing the assessments, learners can download an Evergreen Comply completion certificate with the regulatory crosswalk appended. It records online completion, not OSHA approval or completion of unperformed workplace instruction.
