DOT vs non-DOT
DOT tests are required for safety jobs the Department of Transportation regulates, like CDL drivers and pilots. They follow federal rules and forms.
Every other workplace test is non-DOT. Your company policy sets the panel and when you test. A non-DOT test can’t replace a required DOT test.
When to use it
Pre-employment and random tests under your own policy can be ordered online. After an accident or for reasonable suspicion, the test usually needs to happen the same day: see your options.
